Assignment: You have been selected to design a proposed non-denominational chapel located on the campus of SUNY Farmingdale. The college wants this to be a profoundly spiritual place that people of all faiths can worship and reflect on lifes events. The College believes this can be achieved by the creative use of light. The College has outlined a preliminary program that is listed below. A site has yet to select on campus; the College is looking for guidance from the Architect. The building should be integrated into the fabric of the campus. The College explicitly requests the design not be symmetrical.

PRELIMINARY DESIGNS
Project 3 consists of designing a chapel on Farmingdale campus and choosing the most practical location in creating space and to harness light. Farmingdale state college is mainly a commuter school, but still has many students that dorm. The location I chose is along the eclipse. I chose this location because it is closest to the dorms on campus and it is in close proximity to educational buildings making it convenient for both commuters and dormers. Also this location has the most traffic and maximum sun rays due to no interference from trees or other buildings. I was able to design my chapel to capture as much light as needed knowing that Farmingdales campus sits at a 45 degree angle. My chapel also follows concepts of hierarchy, simple circulation, and usage.
